EARLY OHIO RIVER WADING TRIP  - Sat. - 3/01 ?AM-?PM

TODD WILLMOTH 859-442-0806 – Join Todd Willmoth for a trip to just below Meldahl Dam where the Stripers, Hybrids and Skipjacks are plentiful.  We’ll be fishing from the shore or maybe wading out just a bit into the River.  Dress warm and be prepared for a spectacular bit of fishing.  

 

BIG BONE CREEK DAY TRIP  - Sat. -3/15 8AM-4PM

BRING ALL THE SAME NYMPHS YOU WOULD USE IN NORTH CAROLINA.

ROCK CREEK & BIG SOUTH FORK CAMPOUT - Fri-Sun - 3/28-3/30

Located in the Big South Fork National River and Recreation Area and one of the most beautiful spots on earth.  The trip will be coordinated by Todd Willmoth and his dad, and do they show you a good time. It is a camping trip but there are motels in town. A great trip for beginners to get a feel for casting on a small stream with lots of opportunity to learn from the veterans. The trip is about 3.5 hours from Florence.

HUNT FOR KY STREAM SMALLMOUTH - LITTLE KY RIVER DAY TRIP  - Sun. -4/06 7AM-4PM

MIKE ARNOLD- 859-689-4294 -We’ll start the search for more smallmouth waters with one we know a little about. Mike Arnold has fished the "Little K" for years for trout and always enjoyed hooking a few smallmouth too. Meet at the parking lot in front of Shoe Carnival & Staples across Mall Road from Florence Mall at 7AM. We’ll get breakfast on the way. Waders and 4- or 5-weight outfits. We can catch lunch in Bedford. Map is already on the website.

SPRING MICHIGAN STEELHEAD TRIP - Thu-Sun - 4/10 - 4/13

HUNT FOR KY STREAM SMALLMOUTH - SILVER CREEK DAY TRIP  - Sun. -4/20 7AM-4PM ON-TRIP COORDINATOR NEEDED. About a two hour drive south to just below Richmond, KY and then following lots of back roads we’ll find this gem of a stream that is just made for a lightweight fly rod. More info later. OTTER CREEK TROUT TRIP - Fri-Sun - 4/25-4/27

RED RIVER GORGE TROUT STREAMS DAY TRIP  - Sat. -4/26 – 6AM-7PM

MEET AT THE FLORENCE MALL STAPLES PARKING LOT AT 6AM. WE’LL STOP FOR BREAKFAST IN WINCHESTER BEFORE CONTINUING ON DOWN THE BERT T COMBS PARKWAY TO THE SLADE EXIT. WE’LL STOP AT THE SHELL STATION ON THE HILL BEFORE CONTINUING ON THROUGH THE NADA TUNNEL TO THE STREAMS. BRING ALL THE SAME NYMPHS AND DRY FLIES THAT YOU WOULD USE IN NORTH CAROLINA.

 

WHITE BASS / WIPER RUN DAY TRIP to East Fork of Little Miami River near WilliamSburg, OH – Sun - 5/04 - 7am-6pm –

MIKE ARNOLD - 859-689-4294 - Mike returns to one of his old haunts of years ago by visiting the East Fork of the LMR as it flows INTO Harsha Lake at East Fork State Park. OH license required. Bring lunch, appropriate outfit (5-wt - 7-wt) with floating line and 2x or 3x tippet on a 9-foot leader and plenty of 2” to 3” long white or silver streamers and same color sliders/poppers.

 

EARLY BASS & BLUEGILL TRIP TO PEABODY WMA - Thu-Sat - 5/8 - 5/10 - Peabody WMA is an old strip mining property in Western Kentucky that was converted into a wildlife management area many years ago.  It has numerous small lakes and ponds that are stocked with bluegill, bass, & other species that are open to the public. According to Jim Wilmoth, it is a great panfish & bass location that has repeatedly delivered good numbers each time he's visited there over the past 20+ years. Additionally, Kentucky's state record bluegill was caught in the same general area of the state as Peabody. We'll do the 3 hour drive Thursday AM and fish Thursday PM, Friday, and Saturday & return late that evening.  Depending on weather conditions we'll either camp or hotel it in Beaver Dam, Ky. Jim Blasdel will coordinate this trip and Jim Wilmoth will come along on the trip to join us and offer up some expertise.   Cost: $15 WMA permit plus gas (shared), lodging (shared), & food.  Contact Jim Blasdel for more info (689-2124 evenings).

YOUTH PROGRAMS, CASTING CLINICS, SEMINARS BY THE GREATEST FLY FISHERS IN THE COUNTRY. ALL COMBINED WITH POTENTIALLY GREAT BASS AND BLUEGILL FLY FISHING IN THE LAKES. SPECIAL RATES. OHIO BRUSH CREEK WADING TRIP - Sat - 6/7 7AM-5PM - NKFF Smallmouth Bass Day Trip to long-time secret OHIO BRUSH CREEK near Peebles, OH – 7am-6pm – Little is known about this stream other than it's one of Ohio's best smallmouth habitat. OH license required. MEET AT THE EASTGATE MALL TOYS-R-US PARKING LOT AT 7AM. Bring lunch, appropriate outfit (4-wt - 6-wt) with floating line and 3x or 3x tippet on a 9-foot leader and plenty of wooly buggers, minnow patterns and poppers/sliders. "RETURN TO PENNSYLVANIA" TROUT & SMALLMOUTH WADING TRIP - Thu-Sun- 6/19-6/22 –

Mike Arnold (859) 689-4294. NKFF hasn't fished Pennsylvania since the late 1990's when, for some reason, after having fished it every year since 1991, we stopped. Plans are to fish the mid-North section of the state for trout hooking up with guide George Daniels (speaker at an NKFF meeting last year) and then relocating for one day of glorious smallmouth wade-fishing in the famed Susquehanna River north of Harrisburg, PA. Trout AND Smallmouth ... what could be better. Plan to camp or get with the coordinator to book a motel.

INDIANA STREAM SMALLMOUTH WADING OUTING  - Sat - 7/5 - On Trip Coordinator Needed -Smallmouth Bass Day Trip to Indiana's famed Upper Laughrey Creek near Versailles, IN–  Another of those always heard of but rarely fished (by NKFF as a group) streams that we really need to start paying some attention to. IN license required. Bring lunch, appropriate outfit (4-wt - 6-wt) with floating line and 3x or 3x tippet on a 9-foot leader and plenty of wooly buggers, minnow patterns and poppers/sliders.

On Trip Coordinator Needed - We can’t think of a better way to spend a weekend than wading the low waters of the Cumberland River while the dam is being repaired. Fish Kentucky's finest trout waters for rainbows and browns (and skipjack and stripers, too). We'll be camping and lodging it at the Cumberland River State Resort Park just up US-127 from the dam so we'll have easy access to the dam flow-ways, Helm's Landing and Winfrey's Rock and (a bit further away, to Crocus Creek, Burkesville and CLoyd's.
